Lately, it seems that I am surrounded by people who recently sustained an injury or are dealing with chronic injury. Many of these problems can be avoided simply by taking the time to warm up and stretch out.
A session with a client the other day motivated me to write about the commonly asked question, “What is the best exercise for __________”? While I don’t believe there is any “best” exercise for a given body part, there are certainly plenty of good ones.
Do I need to stretch before exercise of after? You definitely need to stretch after exercise, since resistance training decreases flexibility over time if done alone without the counter balance of stretching.
