When it comes to calories, many people don’t understand how many more calories they are consuming when they’re eating foods high in fat. To give you a little insight, one gram of protein or carbohydrate contains 4 calories. The same size (one gram) of alcohol contains 7 calories. These by the way are considered empty calories since they provide your body with no nutritional value. And one gram of fat contains 9 calories. That means you consume more than twice as many calories when eating foods high in fat than you do when eating the same amount of a lean protein or vegetable. So think twice before ordering from the fast food restaurant!
