People often ask me how to spot reduce fat in a given area, but the past week I’ve been asked, “What’s the best exercise to get rid of abdominal fat”? more often than usual due to the Thanksgiving holiday this week. Unfortunately, there is no way to spot reduce fat. In reality, the body will let go of fat the last place it put it on. And the best way to drop body fat is through good old-fashioned exercise combined with healthy eating.

This probably isn’t what most people want to hear, but it’s the plain and simple truth. So rather than worrying about a quick fix to get rid of the extra holiday pounds you may put on this Thanksgiving by over-eating, get realistic about your expectations. Think instead of the long term and the positive steps you can make in the coming year and just enjoy your holiday meal by eating slowly and chewing each bite of food. Happy Thanksgiving!
