This is the final segment of a 3-part series on the documentary film, Hungry for Change.  If you haven’t seen it yet, you can watch it on Netflix, or better yet, purchase your own copy from Amazon. In the last post, we talked about what “fat free” really means and the role sugars play in storing fat in the body.

Looking good can be done from the inside out, based on the food choices we make. When we attempt to force our bodies to lose weight by simply not eating, we encourage it to hold onto fat stores to prepare for famine. There is also a very important psychological component to it all, instead of focusing on depletion and taking away, try instead focusing on simply adding healthy choices until there’s no room for anything else.

Seaweed and other gelatinous fibers help to cleanse our bodies by way of the liver. Parsley and cilantro also cleanse our bodies. Eating high quality green plant foods, drinking good water, regular exercise, breathing good air, and eating cleansing foods are all an important part of the overall equation to improving our bodies from the inside out. Juicing allows for rapid digestion and the nutrients actually make it to your cells in 15 minutes!

Do you find it shocking that over 200 chemicals were found in a newborn baby’s umbilical cord? That is shocking! That is due to the chemicals found in the foods that the mother consumed. For me, that really helps put things in perspective. Another shocking and proven statistic in the film, was when cortisol (stress hormone) is high, a person can gain weight simply by “looking” at a donut! Sleep is the number one way to digest stress hormones, so that means that lack of sleep encourage weight gain.

Some other things that deserve mentioning in the quest towards good health and a healthy weight, are laughing and visualization. Laughing has clinically been shown to improve immunity and decrease pain. Visualization is also powerful. Imagine yourself as you would like to be. I hope you have found this series helpful, and this was just a summary of the some of the important points in the film that stood out to me. There may be other things that hit home for you, for be sure to pick up your own copy of the film.
