Today marks the first day of the home exercises that can be done without equipment that we’ll be covering this month. Today’s post is about the lunge. The lunge is a compound leg exercise that works both the front and back of the thighs (quadriceps and hamstrings) as well as the butt (glutes). A little emphasis is even placed on the calves, so it’s a great overall leg exercise. Begin by standing with your feet next to one another, and with one leg, step forward and then drop the knee of your rear leg down towards the floor so that both your knees are bending at 90 degree angles. Return to the starting position and repeat with the other leg. This exercise can also be changed up so that you are stepping backwards instead of forwards.
