Daniel PlanI’m back after taking a month off from blogging in honor of Fender’s passing. I miss him something awful but find it helpful to keep myself busy. So I am starting a new series on The Daniel Plan, 40 Days  to a Healthier Life.

In a nutshell, this is a lifestyle plan focused on weight loss on built on the book, The Daniel Plan, written by Rick Warren, D.MIN., Daniel Amen, M.D., and Mark Hyman M.D. The program, build on biblical principles and the five essential components of faith, food, fitness, focus, and friends. You can pick up the book at any dealer including Barnes & Noble, or Amazon, and it an additional study guide is even available. I have to say that I have been very impressed so far!

In my industry, I am bombarded with diets all the time, so this was a pleasant surprise and a plan that I wouldn’t refer to as a diet, but instead as a lifestyle change. In the first chapter alone, it caught my attention when Pastor Rick Warren states that he has encountered many people praying for God to heal them of illnesses that could be reversed if they just made healthier choices. He brings up a good point: why should God heal you of an obesity related illness if you have no intention of changing?

For additional information on the Daniel Plan, be sure to visit DanielPlan.com. There is even an app you can download to help you throughout the plan with suggestions for fitness activities, foods to eat, and recipes. Other than that, be sure to check back later in the week for my next post in this ongoing series!
