Bike for a Cause and Get Involved

Mountain Biking is Fun and Meaningful!

My friend, Jose, and I recently participated in the first Inaugural Women’s Ride in Imperial Beach to raise funds for the San Diego County Bike Coalition. The ride was designed to encourage more women as well as families to engage in bike riding from all over San Diego County. Some of the funds raised will go to educational programs on bicycling.

You could choose from a paved course of 18 miles or 10 mile dirt course that included some single track. We chose dirt of course, and the ride took us through Otay Valley Regional Park and the Otay River Valley. We even enjoyed some delicious food from several gourmet food trucks afterwards. I had a lobster grilled cheese, and I have to say it was excellent!

There were also several bicycling companies present, wineries, and women owned businesses. It was a fun ride and I look forward to more in the future. If you are looking for a way to get involved in a fun sport while also doing some good in your community, I suggest checking them out at SD Bike Coalition or San Diego Mountain Biking Association.
